Welcome to the Blanchland Shop and Post Office

Located within the old Gatehouse of the 12th Century Abbey which has grown over the years into the village of Blanchland, the Post Office has served residents and visitors for over 150 years. Examples of this heritage are plain to see, including the post box, which is one of only three white coloured ones in Britain. Although in it's early days it only dealt with the post, it now provides much more to the small community. Incorporating a shop, it sells newspapers and magazines, basic grocery items and wine and spirits. It also provides a place for locals to find out the latest village news.

Plenty of sweets for everyone, young and old!

In addition, with the growth of tourism in Blanchland, the Post Office has developed to meet the needs of the thousands of visitors that come every year. Selling everything from ice creams to jam, jewellery to organic soap, there is something for everyone to have a nice day out and go home with a great memento or gift for a loved one.

Although many people have run it over the years, the current owners Jacqui and Ian Dart, bid you welcome to this site and ask you to have a look around to see what they sell, how to reach the village and send them a message if you would like. Then hopefully they can look forward to meeting you in person in future!
